By "special stuff", I assume you mean the Wallpapers, screenshots, etc., that will probably be found on the internet anyway.

Your bonus items and bonus slot (the main reason to buy the pre-release), will come in the form of a Code you enter into your GW account. Don't even need a CD to get those...

I think ppl should chill and go with the flow, to much talking about things that will come in the furture....uhhhhh just w8 and you will see, I think that A.net makes enough pre releas or pre order paks so every one could get one if they want and you will get enough time to find out what is inside that pack and if you want it or not, so just wait a bit longer .

And for "morte" and every 1 else, 1001 nights is an onld persian story and not arabian and there is no arabian nights. like Arabs have allmost no story that is good enough to remember. plz search on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page or google.com before you say something like that -.-, so are lost of other storys on the count of the arabians (in ppl mind) and not to ppl who made the story's that makes me sad.

sorry the last part was a bit off topic.

Last time around it was a pre-order pack, it cost 5 bucks. This time around it's the full price pre-release pack. To get the pre-release you have to pay the full price of the game. So really there is a pre-order for the pre-release pack, which automatically includes the final release. For 5 bucks you can pre-order the pre-release, then when the game ships you go and pick up (or have delivered to you) the final. This is my understanding of it anyway...

I dont wanna start a fight, im just posting what i found following your suggestion of searching in wikipedia. 1001 nights and arabian nights are both names of the pretty same collection of neverending stories (the differences come from different compilers or english "translators").

Back to topic: i really dont know whats going on with pre, pre-pre and so on. Guess ill wait till september for clearer explanations. Please let me know if you figure out how does it work in Europe, UK in particular, because all i know is this from gameplay:

http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/...rs_-_nightfall

http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/...ectors_edition

As some have pointed out, it is far from clear what do you get.

HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART FROM GW

Quote:
August 1, 2006 (BELLEVUE, WA) — ArenaNet® and NCsoft® today announced a brand new retail package which will soon give Guild Wars® players their first look inside the exciting upcoming release, Guild Wars NightfallTM.
that means whatever eb/gamestop/etc are doing now that RETAIL BOX will be for sale at all stores and we will finally find out how much it will cost and what all the different store conditions (preorder/no preorder) are

then we can decide where to buy it

yeah you can get them bundled by ordering the "retail+starter kit" according to EB and Gamestop... not sure if they split shipments tho...

i figure im safe, since Im getting the pre-release kit from amazon, and the CE from EB.... i might pay an extra 2 dollars shipping this way, but at least i know exactly what i can expect.

By the text itself though I get the impression you only get the slot when this is associated with an account with nightfall on it. Ie chp1+chp2+this alone, if I'm not reading too much into it, doesn't look like gets you anything outside a preview. Put it all together and you get slot + (useable) new class weapon.

Yeah; it's already been confirmed several times you don't get the bonus slot til you add your Nightfall retail key.

Wow, let's take a look at this then.

Let's say you want the special items associated with the pre-release. The only way to get them is to pay the extra $5 for the pre-release box. Of course you are also getting a slot for cheaper than what ANET sells, but if you didn't want the slot, then you would have NO choice.

Unlike Factions, where there existed a 'pre-order' that included everything this NightFall 'pre-release' includes minus the slot, the Factions pre-order most importantly allowed you to basically put a downpayment on the retail Factions game (example: if you paid $5 for the 'pre-order box', it would take $5 off retail Factions game), whereas this NightFall release you are paying an extra $5.

Basically you are committed to paying $5, and that $5 becomes free to ANET if you decide NOT to purchase the retail NightFall game. Let's not kid ourselves. Take a look at the Factions pre-order box, which was available to buy for $1 free shipping at Amazon at the time of release. With this option, if you chose not to purchase the retail Factions game, you still would be able to access the preorder items by typing in 'preorder' command.

If you decide you will not be buying NightFall, due to a change of heart, via a PvE Weekend (if they even plan to have one) or some other measure, then you are pretty much screwed out of $4, since the bonus slot is not activated unless you have merged it with an existing NightFall retail release!

* Unless you are supremely positive you are purchasing the NightFall retail game, I strongly suggest not merging the 'pre-release' bonus slot key until your decision is confirmed. Also take into account that ANET/NCSoft are strongly against selling account keys, it would be difficult, but not impossible, to sell the bonus slot key. You have nothing to lose by waiting, unless you really must play around with the special weapons.*

(Of course information can change. They may allow the bonus slot key to be available during a PvE Weekend, and possibly ONLY during that timeframe, until a NF retail key has been merged.)

I will concede this: I think it does not cost NCSoft/ANET much to produce these 'pre-order/'pre-release' boxes. This is because I believe they are considered promotional items, which is why EBGames can practically 'give' them away with the purchase of the retail game. Adding the bonus key here is what drove the price ("value") up on these packages. The marketing team over at NCSoft/ANET really came up with a doozy of a plan to ensure their sales, and I believe we will NOT be seeing a 'pre-order box' (similar to the Factions release) after every GW chapter release anymore.

I'm not seeing why anyone wouldn't want to buy Nightfall, or for that matter why they would preorder a game they weren't sure they wanted.

You guys are lucky, nowhere over here I have found is selling, or going to be selling the Pre-release pack, just orders on CE or SE. Also the good store which sold factions CE for a lowly £29 (thats $55 roughly) isnt listing it yet.

Guess im gonna be buying £49 CE :-S

The pre-release pack doesn't go on sale til September 15. The hapless clerks might not know about it now but it's possible they will carry it.

As far as I know, I put down a deposit for AU$10.00 per copy of nightfall, which, as far as I'm aware, will get me the pre-order when it comes out. course, there's the whole thing where I ordered it shortly after hearing talk about preorders and EB's had to actually check that nightfall will exist.

So now I'm just waiting to haunt them on the 15th to see if the 'little' hickup that happened last time here is sorted out this time and we get our preorde.

Well, at least here in Finland we don't have to pay anything for preordering Nightfall and we still do get that pre-release pack w/slot.

.
HERE IS WHERE YOU (AND EVERYBODY WHO THINKS THE SAME) ARE WRONG AND CRUSING FOR A BRUSING

you put down a DEPOSIT which RESERVES you a copy of the retail game when it is released and NOTHING beyond that

note that the GW official press announcement states very clearly that the so called bonus pack is a RETAIL package you will be able to BUY on the shelves sept 15 th

if the store wants to play around and add it as an extra cost so called starter kit like gamestop/eb games that is the stores business but it is available as a 5 dollar (plus s/h) purchase from Amazon

So you pay 5 dollars for the bonus pack and put down 10 dollars deposit to preorder GW nightfall? If thats the case, ill only buy the bonus pack and not preorder Nightfall.
